Irish Venture Capital Association appoints new president
Nicola McClafferty, partner of Draper Esprit, has been appointed president of the Irish Venture Capital Association.

McClafferty is the second woman in a row to succeed former President Gillian Buckley, an investment manager with the Western Development Commission who had completed her term.
McClafferty is an entrepreneur and investor, she worked in venture capital in London before confusing and running online retailer Covetique, which they then sold to ASOS. She joined Draper Esprit in 2017 and was named a partner in April 2020.
She focuses on investing in consumer and software as a service across Europe, she also runs the Draper Esprit office in Dublin. McClafferty sits on the boards of directors of holding companies, such as Manna, Lyst, Pollen, Roomex and Sweepr.
Speaking about the appointment, McClafferty said: “While Ireland has focused in the past on creating an environment to attract foreign investment in the technology sector.
