Man Utd transfer news: James Garner joins Nottingham Forest on loan, signs new contract
Nottingham Forest won the battle to bring James Garner back to the City Ground.
The midfielder arrived on a one-season loan from Manchester United, with Forest fending off the rival interests of rivals Derby County and Stoke City – where they suffered a 1-0 defeat yesterday.
Forest has remained patient in his efforts to land the 20-year-old this summer. Garner scored four goals in 19 starts and one substitute appearance during a loan spell in the second half of last season at Forest.
And that persistence has paid off, with United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer giving Garner the green light to return to Nottingham after the player accepted a new contract at Old Trafford. Garner’s new deal is expected to tie him to the Premier League club for three seasons, with the option of an additional year.
